the LORD hath kept thee back

Funny Thought: I knew in Numbers 22 that a donkey speaks as a man. However, I never noticed that the man begins to speak like his donkey.

And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? and he said, Nay. Numbers 22:30

Devotional Thought:

And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times. Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour. Numbers 24:10,11

Satan has being using the same bag of tricks for thousands of years. He is like the magician that pulls the bunny out of the hat. Even though the trick has been around for ever it always awes the immature.

In the story of Balaam and Balak (sound like rapper names) it becomes ver evident which team Balaam should want to be on. God’s plan for the children of Israel to triumph over the Moabites was very evident. We had already seen what had become of the Amorites.

Can you believe the audacity of Balak? He told Balaam “I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.” Is this guy serious? Let’s look at what honour means.

Honour;  1. honesty, fairness, or integrity in one’s beliefs and actions: a man of honor. 2. a source of credit or distinction

Balak thinks he has this to offer. Young men, Young Trent. Pay attention closely here. The world has no honour left to give you. It has no purpose, honesty, or a source of credit to bestow on you. There are no real men, unless you a real man of God.

Young man after young man which jump in the cage of the rat race to chase something the world has no to offer them. They may have a promotion for it but their inventory is void of the product. Choose to stay with the blessed!
