Daily Bible Reading: 2 John & 3 John
Devotional Thought: And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 2 John v. 6
I love many of the beautiful phrases found in these two books. “And this is love” creates such excitement in only four words. I remember when I realized that I loved my wife and that she was the girl I was supposed to marry. It was so exciting finding ways to let her know how I felt about her. I must admit in the world of 5 Love Languages I am often mute. I do not express my love for her as often, as deeply, of as well as I would like.
As I walk in the commandments of God I am doing what is best for me. Avoiding the darkness of sin and walking in the light of Christ keeps me from dangers and heartaches. Sin hurts. I not only avoid so much but I am able to express something. I am able to express to God what I want to say “this is love”.
As a young excited fiance I sought for way to tell my future wife, Stephanie, that I loved her. As a Jesus following, God loving, believer I desire to tell God I love Him. I am given opportunities all through out my day to say “yes, I love God”!
Thank you brother Trent. That is very true, and was such a blessing as I read it this morning. Isn't God amazing, the best thing we can do to show our love for God, is also the most benifical thing for ourselves, keeping His commands.
