“And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart; all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.” Zechariah 12:12-14

Tonight I finished my last lesson for Old Testament Survey at the O.G.T.C.. Which is fitting because I also finished reading through the Old Testament on by “blog devotional reading plan”. I have been plodding along since October of last year (Oct. 3rd, Out of Nothing). Writing my devotional thoughts have really helped me meditate on the scripture. I read and think over it through out the day. I have not written everyday like my good friend Pastor Austin Gardner has at www.austingardner.net. However, the 111 blog posts I have written from my Bible reading have helped me greatly. I hope and plan to give more attention to this in the days to come.

I have heard and read about God doing big things in different places and times around the world. The Welsh Revivals and the Great Awakening remind me that God has and can do things on a big scale. I say that with all of my heart I want to see this!

However, reading this verse reminds me of the fact that I must not want it as badly as I may say that I do. In this verse we see that for God to work on the “big scale” he does so by working on the hearts of many people who respond to Him.

The verse says over and over the word “apart”. They were repenting and we see their sorrow for their sin. I pray that God brings a great revival to this generation, however I must make sure that if I want to be “a part” of it I must first come “apart” and find it myself.
