yet no man remembered that same poor man 0

Jan31

14There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: 15Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. 18Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. Ecclesiastes 9:14-18

There is many exciting things planned for this week. I leave for P.C.C. (Pensacola Christian College) in the morning to be part of the Our Generation Mobilization Team that will be speaking in their missions prayer band. I enjoy the opportunity to speak to so many Christian college students (some times 600+). However, I prefer the one on one talks about missions with the students. Also, this week we will be starting the Vision Bible Reading Group on Facebook (Vision Bible Reading Group). We will starts the Unfailing Love Challenge for the couples of our church! Those are the expected exciting plans and that is not to mention that Steph. (wonderful wife) may have our second child anytime between now and the fourteenth.

Today I read this story in Ecclesiastes that I had never noticed before. In this short story we see the truth of verse 18 lived out “Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.”. A poor wise man was able to do through wisdom what he would never be able to through his strength. He delievers the city and claims a great victory but is forgotten.

I pray that God will give me and the team of men I am traveling with wisdom as we strive to mobilize some students for the cause of world missions. We know through wisdom we could awaken some firemen and see much more accomplished then we can simply our own strength. We are fully aware that if they do listen and we help deliver a city we will be forgotten as the poor wise man. Tonight I am okay with that.
