I waited patiently for the LORD

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1

I am “assuredly gathering” that God would have for me to meditate on this idea of waiting patiently upon Him. He has brought it to my attention in my reading, in conversation, and in my thoughts. It is such a strange idea to me that we even need patience in waiting upon the Lord. Trusting in His character and concern for me should give be complete or patience while waiting upon His timing.

I went back tonight to read a passage of scripture that was given in a testimony by Rebel Taube, now Rebel Hill, during a chapel service at the O.G.T.C. She read from Deut. 8:2 “And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.”

Patiently waiting is not passive as many people would suppose. It is often time to be humbled. I think of the “Fat Man Squeeze” at the Mammoth Cave. As I would travel through that section I would wonder if there had been that made it that far but because of physical size could not go any further. It is often a time of proving. It is a time to prove that God can, will, and is providing for us. It is a time to find out what is truly in our hearts. It is a time our convictions will be testing.

Waiting patiently upon the Lord is a wonderful place to be for all those who desire to be used greatly of the Lord!
