1Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,2Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.3Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. Joshua 1:1-3
What an exciting but simple thought! God had been working His wondourous plan by through the life of Moses. He had Moses put in a basket to save him from childhood, he allowed him to grow up in the king’s palace, then he spent 40 years on the back size of a desert. While in the desert his God given dream to free his people and his awareness of his inability come face to face. Here God molds him into the man who could run full speed at the Red Sea.
Now Moses is dead. Our God does not miss a beat. “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister”. God plans continue to advance. His plans have not changed (as I have said to Moses v.3).
Something that stuck out to me that I have never seen is that the person who continues in Moses place is called “Moses’ minister”. Joshua was a servant/ minister unto Moses. Those who will be qualified to lead in the generation will not be those who are contentious and mock this generation. It will be those who serve the men of God that He has chosen to use.
