And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed,

12Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. Joshua 10:12-14

This is one of the many incredible things I love about the Bible. So many stories, books, and movies are so predictable. However, the Bible has some awesome twists and turns that you would not expect. This story is one of those. God makes the sun stand still! I will never forget the first time I heard this story. I did not see it coming. This was the response of the neighboring nations.. “Is there a God that is so wonderful as the God of Israel?”

This story reminds me of a verse in Ecclesiastes, “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” When doing a work for the Lord we must keep our eyes on what He has given us to do and not the circumstances. We have no idea what the circumstances may do. However, our Lord is unchanging and always faithful!
