I do not prefer to write my blogs in this fashion. Late Sunday night the internet in my home went out. Then on Monday and Tuesday I was with the Our Generation Mobilization Team promoting the Our Generation Summit at Pensacola Christian College. While at PCC and traveling there I only had access to my computer vie my blackberry. However, I am unable to post to my blog from my phone. Maybe someone out there can tell me how to post to a wordpress blog via Blackberry becuase I have not been successful.
In finishing the book of Joshua and finding my way to Judges 10 I have learned some wonderful truths.
That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them: Joshua 23:7 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you. Joshua 23:10
I love this! Do not only remove false gods and not serve them, but do not even “make mention of the name of their gods”. I believe many times in missions as Christians we may spend more time talking the apologetics of other religions when our time should be spend worshiping our God. In youth ministry we may allow talk of false gods, false ideas, and false values to be spoken about to much.
But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab. Judges 3:15
And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; Judges 6:7,8
And a certain woman cast a piece of a millstone upon Abimelech’s head, and all to brake his skull. Then he called hastily unto the young man his armourbearer, and said unto him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that men say not of me, A women slew him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died. Joshua 9:53,54
These passages became embeded on my heart as I walked through the campus of PCC. In times past I only focused on speaking to the male missions students. However, through experience and then seeing this in scripture I realized my need to encourage all to be involved in missions. Sometimes God plans require “a deliverer”, other time a prophet is needed, and occasionally there is need of a “rock throwing woman”.
