The detail of Leviticus is amazing. God takes great concern and care about the instruction He gives for the children to bring an acceptable sacrifice. Worship only happens when there is obedience. There is much to be said about what true “worship” is. It is obvious we do not come to God on our own terms for worship.

As a full time minister/servant I was extremely interested and convicted about the following verse.

And the remnant of the meat offering shall be Aaron’s and his sons’: it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire. Leviticus 2:3

As a person who has had his needs met by churches by the last 5 years I am challenged by this verse. We learn from many passages, such as 1 Cor.9, that look after spiritual things should have their carnal needs met. Don’t muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.

However, it is very clear in this story that we can not eat of the remnant of offerings never met. If the people had not been trained to worship their God there would be not remnant for these men of God to eat. You can not eat the remnant of plans, ideas, or potential. Only as you are leading people to worship and sacrifice would you be able to have meat.

This is a great challenge to all of us not to eat off of credit. I am taken care of for my physical need. To follow the Biblical example I better be leading some people in worship and sacrifice!
