And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them. Exodus 14:4

This is one of many things I do not understand about our God. I do not fully understand how He is omniscient, I do not understand the Trinity completely, and I do not fully understand His sovereignty.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, that he shall follow after them. Exodus 14:4

When I think of Moses and the children of Israel pinned between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea I have not seen it as something God completely orchestrated. It seems as if Moses and the children of Israel are stuck in a bad situation and God rescues them. However, here in chapter 14 I see that God set many things in motion so He would “get honour”.

Moses may have been surprised to see the army behind him, but God was not. God allows plots like this to unfold so that He will be glorified. The Christians in the New Testament realize this as they do not pray to be avoid persecution but for God’s name to be glorified when they are persecuted.
