The Battle to Keep the Dream – Introduction

heartDuring the election season I heard a great deal of talk about “dreams”. The dreams of politicians coming to power and the dreams of the people willing to give over whatever power they have left for a better life. I love the election season. I love to hear people share their dreams even if their dreams may be a nightmare if they become a reality.Dreaming is what separates  us from the rest of the animal kingdom.  Dreaming is wonderful. The poor, the rich, and people from every part of the world have the ability to dream. There are a many things I do not have the resources to do, but dreaming is not one of them. I just spent the last couple of days with a few hundred college students. Many of them shared their dreams with me. I shared my heart and dreams with anyone who would listen. There is a great shortage of people who will say as William Carey “expect great things from God, attempt great things for God”.Nothing outside of putting my faith in Jesus Christ has transformed my life then allowing the dreams God has for this world to reside in my heart. The world hates the dreamer. Satan hates the dreamer. For some strange reason.. everyone but the dreamers hate the dream. I am currently in a “battle to keep the dream”. Keeping the dream is more vital to my happiness, success, marriage, and ministry then vision, the ability to speak, of all the other senses combined. In my next blog I am going to share part of the journey to help me develop what my understanding of a God given dream is.
